Ek Onkar Collection

You can find Ek Onkar Collection on the first floor of Ghaffar Market, Shop No. 38. Karol Bagh is always a mess of people, so getting up the stairs to our place can be a bit of a struggle on Saturdays. The shop isn't huge, but we make it work with what we have. We’ve got piles of clothes stacked up on the benches, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer is looking for. The ceiling fan hums quite loudly, but you get used to it after an hour or two. We spend a lot of time talking to regular visitors who come in just to see what’s new. It’s a lot of folding and unfolding all day. My hands usually feel a bit rough by the time I lock up the shutters. We aren’t interested in those fancy displays you see in the malls. We just put the stuff out where people can see it and touch the fabric. The smell of fried snacks from the vendor downstairs usually drifts up around noon and makes us all hungry. It’s a tight-knit community here in the market. Everyone knows everyone else's business. We just try to keep our corner of the floor tidy and make sure the books are balanced at the end of the month.
