Bageecha

Bageecha is tucked away in the basement of Shop No. 2782, right in the middle of Gali No. 20 & 21 in Beadon Pura, Karol Bagh. If you know Karol Bagh, you know how these galis can be—narrow, winding, and packed with people. Our shop being in the basement means it stays a bit cooler than the street level during those hot Delhi summers, which is a relief. We have to keep the lights on all day though, since not much natural light gets down here. The space is a bit tight, especially when we get a new shipment in and there are boxes everywhere in the hallway. We have a small desk near the stairs where we handle the customers. The walls are covered with samples and notes we’ve pinned up over time. It’s a bit of a maze to get here if it’s your first time, but we’ve been here so long that most people just know the way. The neighbors are all other small businesses, so there’s a lot of shouting back and forth and sharing of chai. Sometimes the drain outside gets blocked when it pours, and we have to keep an eye on the entrance. We don't have any big signs or fancy lighting. It’s just a honest little basement shop where we spend our days. We usually stay open late because that’s when the market really gets going. It’s just how things work here in Beadon Pura.
