Kanvinde Rai & Chaudhury

We’ve been based in Connaught Place for quite some time now, specifically at F-14 on the third floor of Shivam House. Being in the Middle Circle means we see everything that goes on in this part of Delhi. It’s a busy area, but our office stays fairly steady. Kanvinde Rai & Chaudhury is the name on the door, and mostly what we do involves a lot of drawing, planning, and looking at blueprints all day. The stairs up to the third floor can be a bit of a workout if the lift is acting up, which happens sometimes in these older buildings. CP has that old-school feel and we kind of fit right into that atmosphere. We aren't trying to be the loudest office in the circle; we just come in, do the work, and head home when the sun goes down. There’s usually a stack of papers and folders on every desk because that’s just how we operate. It’s practical work. People come by to talk about their building projects and we sit down with them to figure out the dimensions and the materials. It isn't always glamorous, and the office can get a bit cluttered when we have big projects going on, but it works for us. Living and working in Delhi 110001 means you’re always in the thick of it, and we’ve gotten used to the noise from the streets while we focus on the designs. That's about it for us.
