Regent Trading Co. sits at No. 1088 Paiwalan, right across from the fire station near Jama Masjid Gate No. 3. Being in this part of Old Delhi is something else. It’s crowded, loud, and full of life every single minute. Our shop is right in the thick of it. We’ve had this spot for years and the walls probably have plenty of stories to tell if they could talk. It’s not the easiest place to reach if you’re driving, but everyone knows the fire station, so finding us isn’t too bad once you’re on foot. Inside, it’s mostly just boxes and the smell of old paper and tea. We don't bother with a lot of modern fluff. The gate at the masjid is always a good landmark for us. Some days it feels like the whole city is passing by our front door. We keep our heads down and stay busy with the orders and the customers. It’s a lot of manual work and checking lists. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a sleek showroom. We just want to make sure the trading gets done right. Sometimes the electricity goes out or the narrow lanes get blocked, but we just wait it out and get back to work. It’s just how things go around here. We’re part of the neighborhood, for better or worse.
