Our place is in the Mayapuri Industrial Area, Phase II. If you know the area, it is always crowded with trucks and people moving things around. We are at C-163. It is an industrial unit where we deal with engineering parts and packaging stuff. The floor is usually covered with metal scraps or packing materials depending on what we are working on that day. It gets loud inside because of the machinery running. We have a small office tucked away in the corner where we handle the paperwork and phone calls. Most of the guys here have been with us for years, so we all know how the machines act up sometimes. We don't do much advertising; mostly it is just businesses from around Delhi or other states calling us for their packaging needs. It is not a quiet job. There is always the sound of tape dispensers or metal being cut. We drink a lot of tea to keep going during the long shifts. The air smells like oil and cardboard. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We are just an engineering firm in a busy industrial zone trying to get the orders out on time. The traffic in Mayapuri can be a headache for the delivery drivers but we manage. We just stay focused on the tasks on the floor and hope the power doesn't go out during a big run.
