Our shop, China Fashion, is tucked away at B-18 Gurudwara Wali Gali in Inderlok. If you know Inderlok you know the lanes are narrow and always full of energy. Being in Gurudwara Wali Gali means we hear the prayers sometimes and it’s actually quite nice. We deal with a lot of clothes and accessories. The space isn't huge so we have to use every inch of the walls for storage. We spend most of our time unpacking bags and hanging things up. It’s a lot of physical work. We don't have a big marketing budget or a website that looks like a magazine. We just rely on people walking by and seeing what we have in the window. Sometimes it gets so crowded in the lane that we can barely get our deliveries inside. But that’s just life in this part of the city. We have a small stool for customers to sit on if they are tired. Usually, we are just chatting with the neighbors while we work. It’s a friendly atmosphere. We don’t try to be something we are not. We just sell what people are looking for at prices that make sense. Most of our customers come back because they know we are honest about what we have. It’s a simple shop in a busy Gali and we like it that way. We just keep the lights on and wait for the next person to walk in.
