Horizon Apparels. Okhla Phase II is always crowded. Our unit E-45/14 is right in the middle of it. You can hear the machines from the street. We deal with a lot of clothes and fabric all day long. The air is always full of lint and thread. We’ve got piles of boxes waiting to go out. The workers know their jobs well, they don’t need much telling. We have a small desk near the door where we keep the records. It gets hot in the summer, even with the fans going full speed. Okhla is not a place for walking around, it’s all trucks and tempos moving back and forth. We get our tea from the stall around the corner twice a day. It’s mostly just making sure the stitches are right and the sizes match the labels. We don't have a showroom here, just the production floor. It’s noisy and busy from 9 to 6. Sometimes the fabric deliveries are late and we have to wait around. We try to keep things moving as fast as we can. It’s been our spot for a good while. Every morning we open up the big shutter and start the routine. It’s not glamorous work but it’s what we know. We have a lot of regular people who have been with us for years. We just focus on the piles of clothes on the tables. Sometimes we forget to take a break.
