Hatgchha Primary School

Hatgchha Primary School is tucked away in Gali Number 6, over in West Jyoti Nagar. It’s a bit of a maze back here in Shahdara, but once you find A-59, you’re at our door. We deal with the younger crowd, mostly kids from the immediate streets around us. The school is quite small and fits right into the residential feel of the neighborhood. We don’t have a massive playground or anything like that. Instead, we use the space we have as best as we can. The teachers here are mostly local women who know the families. It’s noisy during the day with kids reciting lessons and playing in the hallways. We don’t go in for fancy branding or big slogans. We just teach the basics and keep an eye on the little ones. The building is older, and sometimes the plumbing acts up, but we fix it and keep going. When the rainy season hits, the gali can get a bit muddy, but the kids still show up with their bags and umbrellas. It’s just a normal part of life in this part of Delhi. We aren't a corporate chain; we are just a small school trying to help the local kids get their start. Most of our day is spent making sure everyone is following their books and staying out of trouble until their parents arrive. We like it that way.
