Hans Publications

Hans Publications is tucked away at 11255/35 in the Dariwalan area of Karol Bagh. It’s a very crowded part of the city, right near the Gurudwara. You can hear the prayers and the busy streets from our windows. We do publishing work, mostly focusing on regional literature and some educational materials. The building is old and the stairs are quite narrow. Inside, it's a maze of bookshelves and stacks of newly printed copies. We’ve been here for a long time. It’s a family-run place. I spend most of my day talking to printers and checking the quality of the paper. We don't have a shiny office with fancy lights. It’s just us and our desks covered in manuscripts. Karol Bagh is always loud, but once you step inside, it’s a bit quieter. We have a few regular writers who come by to discuss their new projects over tea. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just make books. Sometimes the deliveries get stuck in the narrow lanes, but that’s just part of being in Dariwalan. We manage. My daughter helps with the computer work now, which is a big change from how we used to do things. We don't do much promotion. Our books usually find their way to the right people. If you’re looking for us, just ask anyone near the Gurudwara; they usually know where the book people are. It’s easy to find.
