Guruji Wood Crafts

People usually find us because they are looking for something specific in the Marble Market here in Kirti Nagar. We have been at Plot No-A2 for quite some time now, sitting up on the second floor. It is a bit of a climb, but that is where Guruji Wood Crafts happens. The noise from the street downstairs is always there, and you can hear the trucks unloading slabs of marble all day long. Inside our space, it smells mostly like sawdust and glue. It is not a very fancy place, just a workspace where things get done. We spend most of our hours working with wood, trying to get the shapes right. Sometimes the weather makes the wood act up, which is just how it goes in this part of Delhi. The stairs are narrow, and we are often moving pieces around to make room. It gets crowded when a lot of material arrives at once. Most of the people working here have been with us for years, so we all know each other's habits. We drink a lot of tea while we work. The light coming in through the windows is okay in the morning, but we rely on the overhead tubes mostly. Dealing with wood is hard work, and our hands are always a bit rough. We just stay busy with whatever order is next on the list. It is a simple setup, nothing like the big showrooms you see on the main roads.
