Working as a Govt Servant with the Air Hq Air Formation Sig Coy means a lot of moving around or staying put in specific zones. We are based out of C/O 56 APO, which is how most of our mail gets to us. It is a life of following orders and keeping the communication lines open. There is not much room for doing things your own way here. We wake up early, do the work, and wait for the next set of instructions. Being in the signals company means we deal with radios, wires, and keeping everyone connected. It is a technical job but also very routine. Most of us have been away from home for long stretches. That is just part of the deal when you sign up. The office is functional. There are desks, some old filing cabinets, and the smell of grease and dust. We do not have fancy furniture or a coffee machine like in some private offices. We drink tea from the canteen. Sometimes the weather makes the work hard, especially if we are out in the field. But we just get on with it because that is what is expected. It is a plain life, really. You follow the rules, you do your shift, and you look forward to the next leave. There is not much to say beyond that. We are just people doing a job for the government day after day.
