To find Trendz, you have to go to Street Number 12 in Govindpuri and head up to the second floor of House Number 1173. It’s a busy neighborhood with a lot of narrow lanes and people everywhere. Being on the second floor means we have a bit more space than the shops at street level, but we also have to carry everything up the stairs. We’ve been working out of this spot for quite a while now. The workspace is filled with sewing machines and cutting tables. It’s not a fancy boutique with air conditioning and soft music. It’s a place where you’ll hear the clatter of machinery and people talking over the noise. We make a variety of garments, mostly focused on what’s popular at the moment. Sometimes we stay late to finish a batch when a deadline is coming up. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, and the stairs are a bit steep, but it works for what we need. Most of our workers live nearby, so it feels like a local operation. We don’t have a big marketing plan or a spokesperson. We just rely on making things that people actually want to wear. It’s a lot of manual work and checking the details of every piece we finish. It’s just a plain, honest business in the heart of Govindpuri.
