About Golden Footwear – Fashion & Trends in New Delhi
We are located deep in Chawri Bazar at No. 3759 on Akhara Street. If you’ve ever been to Churiwalan, you know how tight those lanes are. It’s always crowded with people and rickshaws. We’ve been selling footwear from this spot for a long time. The shop isn't huge, but we pack a lot of boxes onto the shelves. Most days, we are busy just pulling down different sizes for people to try on. Shoes are everywhere. It gets a bit dusty because of the open street, but that’s just how it is in this part of Delhi. The stairs to the upper storage are narrow and steep. You have to be careful when you're carrying a stack of shoe boxes. We know most of the other shopkeepers on the street. We drink chai together when it’s slow. Chawri Bazar has its own rhythm. It's loud and hectic, especially during the wedding season when everyone wants new shoes. We don't have a big fancy storefront. People find us because we’ve been here at the same address in the Akhara Street area for so many years. It’s a family-run kind of thing. We just keep selling shoes one pair at a time. The noise from Chawri Bazar is something you never quite get used to, but it’s home. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use flashlights to find the right shoe box. It’s just part of the experience of being in this part of Old Delhi. We don’t have any fancy displays. Churiwalan is a tight squeeze for anyone not used to it. Mostly it's just local folks looking for a good pair of sandals or boots. We've been through many monsoons here, watching the water run down the street while we keep the stock dry on the higher shelves.
