Rajesh Dreses

Gandhi Nagar is a busy place, especially around Shyam Gali. Our shop, Rajesh Dreses, is at number 6760. We sell clothes for different ages. It's mostly ready-made stuff that people need for daily wear or small functions. The street is narrow so getting the stock in is always a bit of a struggle. We have piles of clothes everywhere. Sometimes it's hard to find a specific size right away, but we eventually get there. I’ve been helping out here since I finished school. My father handles the accounts and I look after the customers. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that hum all day. People come from all over Ashok Bazar to see what we have. We try to keep the prices fair. It's not a boutique with mirrors everywhere. Just a straightforward clothing store. We see the same faces every season. Sometimes the tea stains the counter but we wipe it off. It’s a lived-in space. The lighting could be better, honestly. But the clothes are good and they last. We don't do those big sales you see in malls. We just sell what we have at the price it should be. It’s a lot of folding and unfolding. By the end of the day, my back usually hurts, but that’s just how it goes in retail. Our location in Ashok Bazar is easy to find once you get into the lane.
