Fashion's Horizon

Our place is 1760 in Gali Ghantey Wali, up in the Pahari Bhojla area near Turkman Gate. It’s an old part of the city with very narrow lanes. You can’t really get a car down here, so we carry everything in by hand or on cycles. The building has been in the family for a long time. It’s got high ceilings and thick walls that stay cool even when it’s hot outside. We work on various things here, mostly involving fabrics and threads. The neighborhood is very lively, there’s always someone shouting or a bell ringing. We know everyone on the street by name. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful about where we put things so we don't trip. Sometimes the monkeys on the roof make a lot of noise, but we’re used to it. We don't have a big sign out front, just the number on the door. People find us by word of mouth mostly. We drink a lot of coffee while we work on the orders. It’s a lot of manual labor, but it keeps us busy. The light isn’t great in the back rooms, so we use some old lamps. It’s just a regular local business trying to keep things moving. We stay here because it’s home and it’s where we’ve always been. There’s a lot of history in these walls, even if they need a new coat of paint. It is a good place to work.
