Fairfax Couture is also located at 2168 Gurudwara Road, right in the thick of Karol Bagh. Even though the name sounds a bit more formal, we are pretty down-to-earth here. We focus a lot on the specific stitching and the way a garment sits. Our space is usually filled with the sound of sewing machines and people talking over the noise of the street outside. Being on Gurudwara Road means there is never a quiet moment, but we’ve learned to work through it. We aren't some big factory; we are a group of people who know how to handle fabric. Every day is a bit different depending on what kind of pieces we are working on. Some days it’s all about small details, and other days we are just trying to clear out the floor space. We’ve been in this part of Delhi for quite a bit, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change, but our work stays mostly the same. We don’t use big words to describe what we do. We just take the cloth and make it into something people can wear. The floors are often covered in threads and scraps by the end of the day, which shows we’ve been busy. It’s honest work that keeps us going. We like being part of the local market scene here because everything you need is just a short walk away.
