Our place is right across from Shakti Mandir, so it’s easy to find. We are at No. 25/1 on Street No. 1. It’s a small operation, mostly just us working on different designs and seeing what comes out. Some days are better than others when it comes to the work. We spend a lot of time looking at patterns. It gets a bit crowded in here with all the materials lying around. There’s always someone coming or going since the temple is so close. You can hear the bells sometimes while we work. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us making things. It’s practical work. We don't use any fancy machines, just the usual stuff that gets the job done. Sometimes we stay late when there is a lot to finish. The lighting isn't the best in the back room, but we manage. People stop by and ask what we’re making today. It’s nice being part of the neighborhood like this. We’ve had this spot for a while now and haven't felt the need to move. It suits us just fine. The floor is usually covered in bits of cloth and thread by the end of the day. We sweep up and start again the next morning. It’s just how we live and work here. The walls could use a new coat of paint but we never seem to get around to it. Sometimes the tea we make is the only thing that keeps us going in the afternoons.
