Chopras

If you have ever been to Chawri Bazar, you know how crowded it gets. Our shop, Chopras, is right in the middle of it at Sudershan Market 3618/27. It is a tight squeeze in these narrow lanes, but that is just the way it is here. We have been in this market for years. My father used to work this same spot before I took over. The walls are lined with stuff we’ve collected over the decades. It’s not the most modern looking place, but we know where everything is kept. The noise from the rickshaws and people shouting outside never really stops until late at night. Sometimes it’s hard to hear a person standing right across the counter. We deal with all sorts of people at Chopras. Some are looking for specific parts, others are just browsing the market. Dealing with the heat in the summer is probably the hardest part of working in Sudershan Market. We have a couple of old fans that hum all day long. Getting supplies delivered to 3618/27 is always a challenge because the trucks can't get into the narrow streets. We end up carrying a lot of things by hand from the main road. It’s tiring, but it's part of the routine. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here in Chawri Bazar when they need us for anything.
