Rjs Leather Kraft New Delhi

We’ve been here at No. 237 Chilla Gaon for a good while now, right behind the River Side Club in Mayur Vihar Extension. Most days it’s just us working with whatever leather we’ve got in that week. It gets a bit crowded in here because the rolls take up so much space, but that’s just how it is when you’re making things by hand. The smell of the hides is pretty strong when you first walk in, though I guess we don’t notice it anymore. We spend a lot of time just cutting and stitching. It’s not a fancy place or anything. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, or we just keep working by the light from the door. New Delhi heat makes the workshop quite warm in the summer, so we keep the fans going all day. People find us mostly because they know the club nearby. It’s a quiet corner compared to the main roads. We don't really do much advertising, mostly just people stopping by because they saw the sign or heard about us from someone else in the neighborhood. We keep busy with the orders that come in, mostly small batches. Sometimes we mess up a stitch and have to start over, but that’s part of the job. It’s just honest work we do here every day from morning until the sun goes down. Most of the leather we use comes from local suppliers we have known for years.
