Barista Coffee

This coffee shop is located at C-17 in Shankar Market, right along Nai Sarak Marg. It’s an old part of the city, and the building reflects that with its high ceilings and thick walls. I’ve been working here for a year, and I like the vibe of the place. It’s usually filled with people who are tired from shopping for books or fabric in the market outside. They come in looking for a bit of quiet and some air conditioning. The coffee machine is quite loud and it hisses a lot when I’m steaming the milk, which makes it hard to hear what people are saying sometimes. We have these big windows, but the view is mostly just of the busy street and the people rushing by. I spend a lot of time wiping the counters and making sure the sugar jars are full. Some of the floor tiles are cracked, and we’ve been meaning to get them fixed, but it hasn't happened yet. The lights are a bit dim, which makes the place feel cozy even when it’s bright and hot outside. We have a few regular customers who come in every afternoon and sit in the same corner table for hours. I don’t mind, as long as they’re happy. It’s a steady job and I get to meet a lot of interesting people who are just passing through this part of town.
