Baba Tea & Co.

If you go into the DDA Market in Munrika Vihar, you’ll find Baba Tea & Co. at Shop No. 8. It’s a small shop in a very busy part of the city. We are right near the Baba Nath Mandir, so you can often hear the bells ringing during the morning and evening prayers. The market is always crowded with students from the nearby university and people living in the Vihar. Our shop is packed with different kinds of tea tins and boxes. We don't have much room for fancy displays, so everything is just stacked where it fits. Most people stop by on their way home to pick up their weekly supply. The counter is a bit worn out from all the bags being dragged across it over the years. We have a small stool in the corner where I sit when there aren't any customers, but that isn't very often. The heat in the summer can be tough because the shop faces the sun in the afternoon, but we have a small fan that helps a bit. It’s a family-run thing and we’ve seen the market change a lot over the years. New shops come and go, but we’ve stayed in this same spot. We don't do anything flashy, just sell tea to the people who live around here. It’s a noisy, lively place to work and we like being part of the local scene. We close the shutters around nine every night.
