Avik Datta

My name is Avik Datta and you can usually find me at Patiala House Courts, specifically in space 828. It’s a busy place, as you can imagine. There are always people rushing around with files and a lot of talking in the hallways. My spot isn't very large—it’s mostly just enough room for my books, some stacks of legal papers, and a place to sit. I spend a lot of my time here reading through documents or waiting for things to move forward. It’s not the kind of office you see on TV. It’s a bit dusty, and there are files everywhere you look. I’ve been working out of this location for a while now, and I’ve gotten to know the other people around the court pretty well. We often share a quick tea while talking about the day’s schedule. It’s hard work and the hours can be long, especially when things get complicated. I don't have a fancy receptionist or a waiting room with magazines. If you come to see me, you’ll probably just see me hunched over a desk. It’s a very practical environment. I just focus on the details and try to keep everything moving in the right direction. It’s a bit chaotic at times, but that’s just how life is at Patiala House. I’m just here doing my part every day, trying to handle the paperwork and the people as best as I can.
