Architect Sadique Jameel

I work out of a space at M-55/B in Abul Fazal Enclave, which is part of Jamia Nagar. It is on Street Number 5, and the easiest way to tell people where it is, is to mention the restaurant nearby. The smell of food is often floating around the street, which can be a bit of a distraction when you are trying to focus on architectural designs. This part of Delhi is very crowded and the streets are narrow, so it has a very local, neighborhood feel. It is not like the big, sterile office blocks in other parts of the city. Here, you hear the sounds of the street, the neighbors talking, and the motorbikes passing by. My office is simple. I have got my drafting table, my computer, and a lot of sketches pinned to the walls. It is a small setup, but it is where all the work happens. I have lived and worked around Jamia Nagar for a long time, so I am used to the pace here. People often just stop by for a chat or to ask about a project they are thinking of starting. It is a very informal atmosphere. I do not have a big staff or a fancy lobby. It is just me in this room in Abul Fazal Enclave, working on buildings and trying to make the most of the space I have got in this busy corner of Delhi.
