Appu Velvet Machinery Works

Appu Velvet Machinery Works is situated right opposite Kamal International School on Nangloi Road in Najafgarh. You can hear the school bells and the kids playing sometimes from our workshop during the day. We work on machinery, specifically the kind used for making velvet and other fabrics. It’s a lot of metal parts, greasy gears, and electric motors. The shop is usually cluttered with pieces of machines waiting to be fixed or sent out to customers. We don’t have a polished showroom with bright lights. It’s just a place where we get our hands dirty and get the job done. The road outside is always busy with buses and cars going toward the center of Najafgarh. We’ve been here long enough that most people in the neighborhood recognize the name on the sign. We aren't into big marketing schemes or anything corporate. We just talk to the people who walk in and help them with their machine problems. Sometimes we have to wait weeks for a specific part to arrive, and the machine just sits there taking up space. It can be frustrating, but that’s the nature of the business. We have a small corner for tea and snacks where we take our breaks in the afternoon. It’s a humble setup, nothing more than what is needed to get the repairs done. We just keep our heads down and focus on the mechanics of the machines brought to us.
