Alka Sharma

Working out of Patiala House Courts keeps us pretty busy most days of the week. Alka Sharma is the name on the door, and this is where you will find us if you’re looking. Being in the court complex means there is always a lot of movement, people rushing around, and a lot of paperwork to deal with. It isn't the quietest place to have an office, but it is where the action is. Our space is functional, mostly filled with folders, law books, and a computer that’s a bit slow. We don't have much room for extras, so every bit of space is used. Lunch is usually eaten quickly at the desk between tasks. We see a lot of different situations every day, some more complicated than others. It’s not a polished corporate environment; it feels more like a lived-in workshop for legal matters. We’ve been through the summer heat and the winter chill in these hallways. Sometimes the elevators are out of order, and we have to take the stairs, which is quite a climb. We aren't trying to impress anyone with fancy furniture or big speeches. We just show up, do the work that needs doing, and help the people who come to see us at the court. It’s a bit chaotic, but it is our daily life and we are used to it.
