Singh Punjabi Dhaba

We are located right on the National Highway 5 Main Road in Manubolu, which is near Nellore. Our shop is number 5. We are very close to the Bharath Petrol Pump, so we see a lot of people stopping for fuel and then coming over for a bite. It is a long way from Punjab but we try to keep the flavors the same here in Andhra. The sun gets really hot on the highway and the wind carries a lot of dust from the passing trucks. We spend a lot of time wiping down the benches. It is just a simple dhaba with a tin roof and some basic fans. We do not have air conditioning or fancy menus. We just tell you what we cooked today. My brother and I work the long shifts while a couple of local boys help with the cleaning. It is a tough life being on the road like this. You do not get many holidays. But we have made many friends among the truck drivers who pass by every week. They know they can get a solid meal here before they continue their journey south. We do not promise anything special, just a place to sit and some food that tastes like home. Manubolu is a quiet town otherwise, but the highway keeps things lively for us most of the time.
