If you want to find us, you’ll have to head to Rumala village in the Chikhli taluka of Navsari. We are based at Dineshbhai Arjunbhai Mahakal’s place in the Kunbharwad area. It’s a typical village setting where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We started this farmer producer company because we felt like we needed a way to organize ourselves better. In Navsari, we have a lot of greenery and the land is good, but the business part of farming is always a headache. We don’t have a big corporate office with air conditioning. We mostly meet on the porch or in a small room at Dineshbhai’s house. It’s informal but we get the work done. We spend a lot of time talking about the trees and the soil. Sometimes the monsoon is too heavy and sometimes it’s not enough, but we deal with it together now. We don’t use any fancy language or try to sound more important than we are. We are just a group of farmers who want to make sure our children can still work the land if they want to. Having this company helps us buy things in bulk and talk to the buyers as one group. It’s a simple idea, really. We are just trying to live a good life and keep our farming traditions alive here in Rumala while keeping up with the modern world.
