Chandan Steel Limited

Our place is out in the GIDC area in Umbergaon. If you ever come down to Village Dehri, you’ll see our sheds across several plots like 31 and 35. It’s a big space but it always feels full of stuff. Steel is heavy and it takes up a lot of room, so we’re constantly moving things around the yard. The sun gets really hot out here in Valsad district, and you can definitely feel it when you’re standing near the metal. We’ve been at Chandan Steel Limited for years, and most of us live close by so the commute isn't too bad. The noise from the machines can get pretty loud during the day, so you have to shout a bit to be heard. It's dusty too, especially when the wind picks up across the survey plots. We spend a lot of time checking the inventory and making sure the trucks can get in and out without getting stuck. It’s hard work, and our hands are usually covered in some kind of grease or grime. We eat our lunch together in the small break area when we get a chance. There isn't much to see around here except other factories and the occasional stray dog wandering through the gates. We just focus on getting the steel moved and keeping the machines running. It’s just regular work for regular people here, nothing more and nothing less.
