Anurag Sarees is tucked away on Sayaji Road, right near the local library at number 2/2851. It’s a small place, but it’s ours, and we’ve been running it for a long time now. The street outside can get a bit crowded with parked bikes, but once you step inside, it’s mostly just shelves of fabric and a counter where we do all our work. We spend a lot of time sorting through stock and making sure everything is where it should be. It’s just a couple of us working here, so we handle everything from cleaning the floors to talking to the people who walk in. We don't have any fancy signs or big advertisements; most people just know us because we’ve been in this spot for so long. Sometimes the afternoon sun makes the shop quite bright, which is good for looking at the colors of the sarees. We have a little kettle in the back for making tea when we get a break. The work isn't complicated, but it takes patience to help everyone find exactly what they want. We’ve seen kids grow up in this neighborhood and then come back to buy things for their own families. It’s those kinds of connections that make the long hours feel worth it. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just here on Sayaji Road, keeping the shop open and doing our daily tasks.
