S. K. M. International

The APMC vegetable market in Turbhe is one of the most chaotic places you could visit. We are located at C-367 in the Sector 19 section of the market. Every morning from about four o’clock, the whole area is buzzing with trucks, carts, and people carrying heavy crates. S. K. M. International is right in the middle of all that action. We deal with the daily trade of goods that come into the city. The smell of fresh vegetables and damp earth is everywhere. It is a lot of shouting and quick negotiations. Our office is just a small, simple room where we can sit down to record all the transactions. There is no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that runs all day long to keep the air moving. The floors usually get a bit dirty from all the people coming in and out. We have known most of the other merchants here for many years. We do not have a formal way of operating. It is mostly about trust and making quick decisions on the spot. The pace is very fast, and you have to stay sharp. We still use a lot of notebooks and pens rather than fancy computers. By the time most people are starting their day, we have already done a lot of our work. It is a tough life, but it is what we know.
