Our company, Himatlal Hirji & Company, is based at D-7 in APMC Market No. 2, right in the Dana Bunder area of Vashi. If you have ever been to Vashi, you know that the APMC market is a massive place that never seems to sleep. We are right in the thick of it. Every morning, there is a constant stream of trucks and laborers moving sacks of grain and other goods. It is a noisy and dusty environment, but that is the nature of the business. We have been in this specific spot for many years. Our office is small and filled with the smell of old paper and jute bags. We don't have any of those modern office luxuries. There is just a ceiling fan that hums all day and some wooden chairs for when we need to sit down and talk to the traders. Working at Dana Bunder means you have to be ready for anything. Some days the market is slow, and we spend our time drinking tea and chatting with the neighbors. Other days, it is absolute chaos from dawn until dusk. We handle the paperwork, check the stocks, and make sure everything is where it should be. It is a practical, no-nonsense kind of job. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a polished look. We just do our work and go home when the market settles down. Sometimes we stay late to finish the accounts, but we always make sure the shop is ready for the next morning's rush.
