Zodge Krushi Sangini Womens Farmerproducer Company Limited

Over in Zodage, which is a village in the Malegaon area of Nashik, we started the Zodge Krushi Sangini Womens Farmerproducer Company Limited. We are located at Namdeo Chindha Desale’s house, number 56. It is a group of us women from the village who wanted to take control of our own farming work. Nashik is famous for its agriculture, but being out in a place like Zodage means we are sometimes forgotten by the big markets. By forming this company, we can stand together and get better prices for our produce. We don't have a big staff. It is just us doing everything from the heavy lifting to the filing of taxes. Some days it feels like we are just running around in circles, but then we manage to sell a big load of vegetables and it all feels worth it. We meet up at house 56 to talk about which seeds to buy or how to handle the irrigation when the water is low. It’s a very simple way of doing business, but it works for us. We aren't trying to impress anyone with fancy offices or polished brochures. We just want to make sure our farms stay profitable so our children have a better future here in Zodage. It’s hard work and the sun is hot, but doing it together as a group of women makes it a lot more manageable.
