Udpi Shuddha Shakahari

Udpi Shuddha Shakahari is located in the old part of Nashik. We are at 1438, Shree Ramchandra Sankul. It’s in Hundiwala Lane, right near Dahipool Nehru Chowk. This area is very old and the lanes are narrow and winding. You can feel the history of Nashik when you walk around here and see the old buildings. The building we are in is also older, with thick walls. Shuddha Shakahari means we don't serve any meat, and that is how it has been since we first opened. People in this part of town like their traditions and expect things to stay a certain way. We open the doors early in the morning. You can hear the sounds of the market waking up around us, with vendors shouting and bells ringing. Nehru Chowk is a landmark that everyone in Nashik knows. Our place is not very big, and the tables are close together. It gets very crowded during the afternoon hours when the local shop workers come for their lunch break. We don't have a lot of staff, just a few people who have been with us for a long time and know how we do things. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just serve food on metal plates and keep the water jugs full. It is a practical place for practical people who live and work in the old city.
