Out in Kanmandale, near Chandwad, we have Shrinath Krupa Shetkari Utpadak Producer Company Limited. Our spot is at Milkat No. 424/1. It’s right in the heart of where we work. In this area, everyone knows that being a shetkari means you are at the mercy of the weather. We decided to stop complaining about it and actually do something to help ourselves. We aren't some corporate entity from the city. We are locals who have spent our whole lives in these fields. The company is just a way for us to pool our resources. If one farmer needs help with equipment or someone else has a question about a new crop variety, we talk it out at the post. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. Our reputation is just based on how we treat each other and the quality of what we grow. It’s hard, honest work. Sometimes the harvest is great, and sometimes it’s a disaster, but having this group makes the bad times a little easier to handle. We focus on the basics: soil, water, and seeds. We try to keep things simple and avoid the complicated stuff that doesn't actually help on the ground. We’re just regular people trying to make a go of it in Chandwad, one season at a time.
