We are based at House No 5480 in Dhangarwadi, which is a small village near Kannad in the Aurangabad district. Shravan Waghchoure Farmer Producer Company is basically a bunch of us neighbors who decided to stop doing things the old way. We saw that we were all facing the same problems with seeds and buyers, so we thought, why not just join up? It’s a very local thing. We know every acre of land around here and who is growing what. The weather in Aurangabad can be really hot and dry, which makes everything more difficult. Our office is just a regular house where we keep our records and meet up to talk. It is not a place with air conditioning or anything like that. We spend most of our time out in the fields anyway. Being part of this company helps us feel like we have a bit more say in what happens to our crops once they leave the farm. We don't use big words or have complicated plans. We just want to get through the year with enough to show for it. It is hard work, and we are just normal people trying to make a living from the land. Sometimes we have good years, sometimes we don't, but at least we are in it together now. There is strength in numbers, even if we are just a small group from a small village.
