Sbt Onion Merchant & Exports

Our shop is No. 19 in Bhandari Sankul, right on the New Agra Road. Being in Pimpalgaon Baswant, we are right in the heart of the onion business in Nashik. It’s a very busy place, especially on market days. The smell of onions is everywhere, and we’ve long since stopped noticing it. We do a mix of local trading and exporting. Our shop is often full of people coming in to talk about prices or check how the latest load looks. We have a lot of sacks piled up, and there’s always a layer of red onion skin on the floor that needs sweeping. The noise from the New Agra Road is constant with all the trucks passing by. We start our day early, usually before the sun is fully up, to get a head start on the auctions. It’s hard work and it’s often very hot out in the yard. We have a small desk in the back of the shop where we keep our ledgers. We don't use many fancy computers here; mostly it’s done by hand or on basic phones. It’s a traditional way of doing business that has worked for us. We know the farmers and we know the transporters. Everyone in Taluk Niphad seems to be involved in this trade somehow. We just play our part in the chain. It’s a hectic life, but we wouldn’t know what else to do. It’s what we know and how we spend our time.
