We set up Sahyadri Prayog Parivar Farmers Producer Company Limited right near Vikrikar Bavan in Pathardi. It’s a convenient spot for the local farmers to drop by when they are in town. We aren't a big outfit with a lot of money. We are just a group of people from the nearby villages who wanted to see if we could do things differently. The name mentions 'Prayog' because we like to try out new ideas in our fields, whether it's a different way of planting or trying to save on water. Pathardi can be tough when the rains are light, so we have to be smart about what we grow. We spend a lot of time sharing tools and advice. It’s not a formal thing most of the time; it’s just neighbors talking. We handle the boring stuff like filing forms and checking the books because we have to, but our real interest is in the dirt and the crops. It's nice to have a place where you can go and talk to someone who actually understands how hard it is to get a decent harvest. We don't promise anyone that they'll get rich, but we do hope to make the work a bit more sustainable for everyone involved.
