Pratap Iron Store

Pratap Iron Store is situated right on the Naka Bypass. It is a pretty busy area because of all the traffic coming through. We are located near the Lav Kush Hostel, so there are always students walking past or stopping for snacks nearby. Being on the bypass means we see a lot of different faces every day. The shop itself is packed with all sorts of iron goods, and sometimes it feels like we are running out of floor space to put things. We try to keep things organized, but when three different customers come in at once wanting different lengths of pipe, it gets a bit messy. The noise from the road is constant, with trucks and bikes zooming past all day long. We have a small counter where we do all the paperwork, and there is usually a stack of old receipts sitting there. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit in the shade of the doorway until it comes back on. It is not a polished place, but it works for what we do. We spend a lot of time loading stuff onto rickshaws or small tempos for people living nearby. Usually, the morning is the most hectic time for us. By evening, things settle down a bit and we can finally sweep out the metal shavings from the floor. It is just a standard shop where we do our daily work.
