Shri Mumbadevi Steel Furniture

We've been here at S. No. 16 for a while now, just behind the Kunal Hotel at Balaji Sankul on the Mumbai Agra Road. It gets quite noisy with all the metal cutting and welding going on during the day. Shri Mumbadevi Steel Furniture is where we spend most of our time, mostly working on cupboards, racks, and chairs. People stop by when they’re driving down the highway because we’re easy to spot once you turn off near the hotel. The shop is full of sheets of steel and tools scattered around. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, but that's just part of being near the main highway. We handle things ourselves, from taking measurements to finishing the last bit of paint. It’s a busy spot. My brother and I usually handle the orders that come in from the local neighborhoods. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a practical workspace where we get things done. Some days are slower than others, but there’s always something to fix or a new frame to weld together. We’ve known the neighbors around Balaji Sankul for years. If you’re looking for us, just look for the sign behind Kunal Hotel. We try to keep things simple here and focus on the work right in front of us. Most of the stuff we make is meant to last a long time because steel is tough. That’s pretty much what we do every day from morning until the sun goes down.
