We are based out of Shop No. 114 and 115 in the Main Market Yard over in Panchavati. If you’ve ever been to the market yard, you know it’s a chaotic place, especially early in the morning when the trucks arrive. At Inquilab Tomato Company, our day starts well before the sun comes up. Everything revolves around tomatoes here. The smell of fresh produce is everywhere, and there is always a layer of dust from the crates. We spend our time sorting through loads, talking to farmers, and making sure the crates get loaded onto the right tempos. It’s physical work and your back definitely feels it by the end of the shift. The shops are basic, just open spaces to stack the produce and a small desk in the corner for keeping track of sales. We don't have fancy signage or a waiting room. People just walk in, check the quality of the tomatoes, and we settle the price. It’s been this way for years. We know most of the other traders in Panchavati, and we all just try to get through the day's inventory. Some days the market is flooded and prices drop, other days we can't get enough stock. That’s just the nature of the vegetable business. We don't overthink it; we just show up and handle the crates. It is a long day every day but it keeps us busy.
