Our small office is at Shop No. 5 in the Sterling Tower, right near Hotel Mathura in Nashik. The full name is Nivishnaturo Farmers Research And, and we focus on the more technical side of farming. It’s not a laboratory with white coats or anything like that. It’s a shop where we look at what’s happening in the local fields and try to understand it better. We have some basic equipment and a lot of notebooks filled with observations. Being near the hotel means there’s always people walking by, and sometimes they pop in to ask what we are doing. We tell them we are just looking at plants and soil. The office is a bit cramped with all the files and samples we collect, but it’s a good spot for us. We aren't trying to sell anyone on a dream. We just want to know why some crops do better than others. It involves a lot of sitting and comparing notes from different seasons. We spend time visiting farms around Nashik and then coming back here to figure things out. It’s a bit of a messy process, and our desk is usually covered in dirt and papers. We don’t have a big mission statement or corporate goals. We just like the research and helping out the local farmers when they have a problem they can't solve.
