N Joy Food Oil Mill

If you walk past the Koteshwar Mandir in Kotul, you’ll probably smell the seeds being pressed at our mill. We’ve been running N Joy Food Oil Mill for a few years now, and it’s always a busy place. We get people bringing in their crops from all over Akole Taluka. It’s a loud place with the machines humming all day long, but we’re used to it. We don't use any fancy chemicals or anything like that; it’s just the raw seeds and the press. The floors are always a bit slippery, no matter how much we clean them. It’s just the nature of working with oil. We aren't some big factory with robots. It’s just us and a couple of helpers making sure the filters are clean and the bottles are filled. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit and wait, which gives us time to chat with whoever is waiting for their oil. We’re right near the post office, so it’s a central spot for the village. People come here because they know what they’re getting. We don't have a marketing plan or any big dreams of expanding. We just want to keep the mill running and make stuff for the local kitchens. It’s hard work, but seeing the fresh oil come out makes it worth it. That’s our daily life here in Kotul.
