Shivdarshan Grapes

If you come out to Materewadi in the Dindori area, you will find us working with the grapes. This is where Shivdarshan Grapes is based, right in the heart of the grape-growing region. The weather out here really dictates our lives. When it rains, we worry, and when the sun is too hot, we have to stay on top of things in the fields. It is not a desk job. Our hands are usually dirty from being out there. We handle everything right from the post here. The pace of life is slower than the big cities, but the work is physically harder. We have been doing this for years, following the seasons as they change. Sometimes the harvest is great, other times it is a real struggle with the pests or the water. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning. We mostly meet people outside or in the small shed we use for sorting. It is a family thing, really. Everyone knows everyone else in the village. We talk about the crop prices over tea in the afternoons. It is just simple living and hard work with the vines. We put a lot of hours into making sure the grapes are okay before they get sent off. It is what we know how to do. The vineyard is our life and we don't really know any other way to spend our days than this.
