Our company is Mahales Adivasi Shetakri Producer Company Limited. We are located at G.No 80 in Talyachapada Shivar, near the Warevare post. It is a quiet place and we like it that way. The people here are mostly from the Adivasi community and we’ve been farming these hills for as long as anyone can remember. We don’t use much fancy machinery because the ground doesn’t always allow for it. Mostly, it’s just hard work and knowing when to plant. The office at Talyachapada is where we meet to organize our grain and figure out the transport. Since we are a bit far out, getting things to the market can be a real headache sometimes. We started this group so we could share the costs and maybe not get cheated as much by the middle guys. It isn't a smooth business with big profits. It's more about surviving and making sure the community has what it needs. We grow what we can and hope for the best. If you visit us in 422202, you’ll see that it’s all very basic. There are no air conditioners here, just the wind and the trees. We focus on the daily chores and keeping the company running so everyone has a fair chance at selling their produce. It is a slow process but we are used to it by now. We just take it one day at a time and see what happens with the crops.
