Out here in Davkhar Nagar, things stay pretty busy throughout the year. Mahabhumi Farmers Producer Company Limited is based right at H No 1929/1 in Chandwad. It’s just a regular building where we meet up to talk about the season. Nasik is known for its farming, but it’s still a struggle every day to get things from the field to where they need to go. We decided to get together because doing it all by yourself in this part of the state is getting harder and harder. We aren't trying to be some massive company that nobody knows. We are just the same people you see at the market every week. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails and we worry about the same stuff, like the cost of diesel or why the transport is late again. When you walk into our spot in Chandwad, you’ll probably see a couple of us sitting around a wooden table. There’s always someone complaining about the weather or sharing news from the next village over. We do the work ourselves, from handling the seeds to talking to the traders. It’s a lot of back and forth, and sometimes the paperwork gets a bit confusing, but we manage. We aren't experts in big business, we just know how to grow things and we want to make sure it stays that way for the next generation around here in the Talchandwad area.
