Madhulakshmi Natural Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are out here in Chaundhane, which is part of the Baglan area in Nashik. Our office is actually over at Madhukar Sitaram More’s place. It’s a pretty busy spot most days of the week. We started Madhulakshmi Natural Farmers Producer Company Limited because we wanted a way for the local farmers around here to work together a bit better than they were before. Most of us in this group grow things naturally, trying to avoid the heavy chemicals that you see on some of the bigger farms. It isn't easy work at all, and sometimes the weather in Nashik doesn't help us out much, but we keep at it. Chaundhane is a small place, so everybody knows everyone else’s business anyway. You’ll usually find someone at the 536/1 address if the sun is up. We spend a lot of our time talking about the quality of the seeds, the condition of the soil, and how to get our produce to the markets without losing out too much on the price. It’s mostly just us locals trying to make a decent living off the land we’ve always had. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that. It is just a desk and some chairs where we sit and plan things out. Usually, there is some tea going if you happen to stop by. Being a producer company means we have to keep a lot of records, which isn't exactly the fun part, but it's necessary.
