Krishna Flour & Dal Mill

If you walk down Novelty Road in Vakilpura, you will hear the Krishna Flour & Dal Mill before you see it. We are right in the middle of a very busy street where people are always rushing around. The mill has been here for a long time, and the walls are stained with the marks of many years of hard work. I usually start the machines early in the morning before the sun gets too high. We process all kinds of dal and wheat for the local families. The noise is quite something, a constant humming and thumping that you eventually stop noticing after a few hours. Vakilpura is a crowded neighborhood, and our shop is tucked in between a bunch of other small businesses. We don't have much room inside, so people often have to wait out on the sidewalk with their bags of grain. I like being on Novelty Road because there is always something to see out the front door when I take a minute to breathe. The floor is covered in a thin layer of white dust and the light from the old bulbs is a bit dim, but it serves our purpose. We don't bother with fancy packaging or anything like that. People bring their own containers and we fill them up right there. It is just honest work that needs doing, and we have been doing it this way for as long as I can remember.
