It is not your typical big office building; it is a regular apartment that we turned into a workspace. Nashik is a big hub for agriculture, and being near the road makes it easier for people to reach us. We are a group of producers who decided to pool our resources. It’s a lot of meetings around a small table, trying to figure out the best way to sell what we grow. Sometimes the neighbors in the apartment complex wonder why there’s so much coming and going, but they are used to us now. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. If you knock on the door, one of us will just get up and let you in. We handle the logistical side of farming, which means lots of phone calls and ledger books. It’s honest work, even if it’s mostly indoors and involves a lot of math. We focus on the practical stuff, like where the produce is going and how much the transport costs are this week. Living and working in Nashik means we are right in the middle of everything. We just do our bit to make sure the collective is moving in the right direction without making a big fuss about it.
