If you head out towards Malegaon in the Nashik district, you’ll find us in Umbrane. We operate out of House Number 1807 in the Umbarnetal area. It’s a real rural spot, which makes sense since we are all about farming. Nashik is known for its soil and what it can grow, and we are just a small part of that. Hirai Farmers Producer Company Limited was set up by a bunch of us who live right here. We didn't want to rely on middle-men for everything, so we got together to handle our own business. The house is where we keep the books and meet up after a long day in the sun. It’s not like those offices in Mumbai. Here, you might find some mud on the floor or a tractor parked nearby. We talk about the weather a lot because it’s what matters most to us. When the rain is good, everyone is happy. When it’s dry, we sit around that house and figure out a plan. We have been here for generations, and this company is just a way to make sure our kids can keep farming if they want to. It’s hard work, and nobody here is getting rich quick, but it’s a living. We just take things one season at a time and try to keep the Umbrane spirit alive in everything we pack and move. We are just regular people doing our best with the land.
