Our place is over in Manur, which is part of the Kalwan taluka in the Nashik district. If you have ever been to this part of the country, you know it is all about the land and what we can grow on it. Fresh Farm Bag Producer Company Limited is based right here at the post office area of Manur. We started this because we wanted to handle our own produce instead of always relying on middle-men who do not understand the work. There is a group of us who put our heads together. Most days are spent out in the open, checking on the crops or getting the bags ready for transport. The roads around Kalwan are not always the best, so getting things out of Manur takes some planning. We have got a small shed where we gather to talk about the season and what needs to be done next. It is dusty work, and our boots are always covered in mud. We do not have a big fancy office with air conditioning. We just have the storage space and the fields. Sometimes the rain is too much and we have to wait it out in the shed, drinking tea and looking at the hills. It is a slow pace compared to the city, but it keeps us busy. Everyone in the village knows where we are. We just take things one day at a time and try to get the bags filled and sent off.
